🏰 #24 How this SaaS grow 11X in 1 year by 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 friction to their funnel

Hey — It's Mariano.
Wishing you a lovely Saturday from 🏰 SaaS-HQ.com
Welcome to our newsletter. Every week, we send:
✅ 1 to 3 bite-sized case studies to grow your SaaS
✅ 1 to 3 curated resources from top-notch experts
Let’s dive in!
[Bite-sized case studies]
#1 Add friction to your funnel to better understand your business
I’m sure I’ve adviced the opposite: Remove fields and simplify your funnel.
But, sometimes, adding friction to understand black boxes in your business is precisely what you need to do.
Matt Lerner shared a great post on LinkedIn where he explains a series of experiments and how he managed to get a 10x increase in conversion by doing that.
It’s a simple 3-step process that anyone can do:
1) Find where your bottleneck is 🔍
2) Understand what the heck is going on* 🤌
3) Run as many experiments as you can 🧪
*gather quali & quanti data, even if this means adding temporary friction to your funnel. That’s the lesson of the day!
#2 🚪 Use Fake Doors testing to rapidly validate an idea without developing it
Pretend to provide a product or feature without actually developing it.
You introduce it as if it's real to see if users show interest by trying to use it. It doesn't actually exist yet.
This helps you understand which potential features are worth developing based on genuine user interest.
It saves you time and resources by not building things your customers don't want
It's a quick, low-risk way to validate demand before committing to full-scale development.

#3 Build the habit of reviewing key metrics every week.
It’s amazing the difference a single email can make.
While it’s great to be able to log into MixPanel, Amplitude, or another analytics tool to quickly look up a key number or funnel, it’s even better to have numbers you and your team can’t miss on a weekly basis.
Here’s a snippet of part of it monitoring some key marketing metrics:

I saved this post from Jason Evanish.
💡Setup a #reporting channel in slack/teams and just share a weekly summary. 3 -4 bullet points w/ key metrics, that’s all is needed.
[Resource of the week]
I’m working on a new article that will later become an eBook or something better. I’ll share it with all of you for free, but I need some feedback on which direction I should go! Can you give me a hand?
That’s all for this edition.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Best,
Mariano Martene
